Biography

G. Ranga Rao was born in Krishna District, Andhra Pradesh in 1960. Earned M. Sc from IIT Bombay and Ph. D from Indian Institute of Science Bangalore. Following various post-doctoral appointments and fellowships in Italy, Japan, France and Germany, he joined the Department of Chemistry, IIT Madras,  in 1996 where he is currently working as Professor of Chemistry. His research interests include synthesis and application of nanoscale materials and POM-based ionic liquids to heterogeneous catalytic processes, hydrogen production, photocatalysis, eletrocatalysis, CO2 reduction, and electrochemical supercapacitors.
