After obtaining undergraduate and post – graduate degrees in Chemistry from Madurai – Kamaraj University and Ph. D. from the Indian Institute of Science Bangalore, was an Alexander von Humboldt Fellow in Germany and Scientist at the Central Electrochemical Research Institute Karaikudi, and presently Dr S. R. Rajagopalan Chair Professor at the Department of Chemistry. My research group has been investigating various fundamental issues on the thermodynamic and microscopic analysis of electrochemical interfaces. The most extensive contributions pertain to the statistical mechanical modelling of electrical double layer, non-equilibrium thermodynamics of charge transport processes, supercapacitors, electro – organic reactions and biosensors. I have co – authored 130 papers in refereed International Journals and three textbooks, apart from co – editing a special issue for the International Journal of Hydrogen Energy.
