SUDIP MANDAL

Biography

Sudip is from a small village of Bankura district in West Bengal. He completed his graduation from the University of Calcutta and post-graduation from IIT Hyderabad. Later he joined as a research scholar (Ph.D. program) in the Department of Chemistry at IIT Madras in 2014 under the supervision of Dr. Kothandaraman Ramanujam. His research focuses on design, synthesis, and characterization of several organic dyes for dye-sensitized solar cells application and molecularly imprinted polymers for sensing application. He has begun his research analyzing the electronic structures and the photoelectrochemical properties of the dyes using density functional theory. He has performed an intern as a special visiting student using “Japan Students Service Organization (JASSO)” fellowship at Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (JAIST) in Prof. Noriyoshi Matsumi laboratory for two months. He successfully defended his Ph.D. thesis entitled as “Molecular Engineering for Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells and Chemosensors: An Experimental and Computational Approach”.
