Dr. Sudam Dawande is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry, IIT Madras. His research is mainly focused on the synthesis and functionalization of small to complex organic molecules such as heterocycles, natural products and active pharmaceutical ingredients using concepts of catalysis, asymmetric synthesis and electrochemistry. In his Ph.D. at the Department of Chemistry, I.I.S.E.R. Bhopal, he worked on the development of enaldiazo compounds as metal carbene precursors and their applications in organic synthesis. In August 2015, he moved to IIT Bombay as an institute postdoctoral fellow. In January 2016, he joined as an assistant professor at the Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai (formerly known as UDCT) where he started independent research carrier in exploring the chemistry of C-H bond functionalization and metal carbenes complexes as reactive intermediates. In October 2022 he joined the Department of Chemistry, IIT Madras.
