Dr. A. Malek
I have completed BSc degree in Chemistry (Honors) from University of Calcutta, West Bengal, in 2013. I have then joined the Department of Chemistry, Indian Institute of Technology Madras for MSc degree. My immense thirst towards science had landed me on the arena of PhD in 2015. In the quest of scientific knowledge, I have straddled both the chemistry and metallurgy-materials aspect and interconnected those in my research problems. After experiencing the incredible journey of PhD, learning from the failure and mistakes, trying something new and odd, I have added my small drops of research to the ocean of science and submitted my thesis work on 3rd January 2019. Following are my thrust areas of research experience and interest:
- Energy: Sustainable and clean energy: Chemical water splitting; Hydrogen production from contaminated/tap water; CO2 capture as fuel; Solar energy conversion; energy storage.
- Materials Science: Nanochemistry; nanostructure engineering; quantum dots; Alloys.
- Analytical Chemistry: Fluorescent sensor design and application; physical properties & characterization by spectroscopy; detection and removal of contaminants from water.
