DR. BHYRAPPA, P.

Biography

Professor Bhyrappa received his Bachelor’s degree from Kalpataru College, Tiptur (Tumkur district), and his Master's degree in Inorganic Chemistry with distinction from Bangalore University Bengaluru, Karnataka. He earned his Doctor of Philosophy in Bioinorganic Chemistry under the supervision of Prof. V. Krishnan from IISc (IPC), Bengaluru. He was a post-doctoral fellow with Prof. Christopher A. Reed's lab at the University of Southern California (USC), Los Angeles, CA, and a research associate in Prof. Kenneth S. Suslick’s lab at UIUC, Urbana, IL, USA. He is a recipient of AvH (1999) and JSPS-invitation fellowships (2005–06). He was a visiting professor in Prof. K. M. Kadish's lab at the University of Houston, Texas, USA (2011–12) and an extended AvH fellow (2013). He is a recipient of Marquis Who’s Who in the World (2009), Asia pacific who is who (Vol. XVII; 2018), and Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award (2018). Bhyrappa’s current research interests are Bioinorganic, Supramolecular, and Materials Chemistry of Porphyrinoids. 

Some of his current teaching assignments are UG (CY1001 Chemistry I; Chemistry Lab CY1002) and PG courses (CY5011 Transition Metal and Bioinorganic Chemistry; CY6102 Advanced Bioinorganic Chemistry; CY5022 Inorganic Chemistry Laboratory)courses.
