From many decades, natural products have been acting as a great source of therapeutic agents and have shown beneficial uses. Drug discovery using natural products is a challenging task for designing new leads in the process of finding and discovering new and effective drug compounds that can be useful for human resources. It describes the bioactive compounds derived from natural resources, its phytochemical analysis, characterization and pharmacological investigation. The conference, MEDCHEM-2019 is being organized on the topic ‘Natural Product Prospecting for Therapeutic Applications’ and will be conducted in IC&SR building inside IIT Madras, during November 1-2, 2019. The conference aims to provide a platform for intense and exciting discussion on this topic.This one and half a day event will be in conference mode where there will be special and invited lectures by eminent scientists working in the area broadly represented by the title of the conference. Poster presentations (~50 numbers) will also be there on the first day. Researchers from the areas of natural product isolation, total synthesis and medicinal chemistry are encouraged for poster presentation and to avail the opportunity to get better exposure to the areas. Students of final year M.Sc. class from various institutions and universities are being invited (through nomination by their parent institute/department) to participate in this conference. The number of students of M.Sc. class is restricted to approximately 75 to facilitate effective interaction with the speakers. The organizing committee invites you to participate in this conference, MedChem-2019. Abstracts for poster presentation can be prepared as per the guidelines given on the website (http://chem.iitm.ac.in/medchem2019/). The official language of this event is English. Computer and projectors for PowerPoint presentation, and appropriate boards for posters will be provided at the venue. All speakers are requested to bring soft copies of the presentation along with them.
