DR. MADHAV RANGANATHAN

Biography

Dr. Madhav Ranganathan is a visiting professor at the department of Chemistry, IIT Madras since August 2019. He is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry, IIT Kanpur. He received his M Sc (Integrated) in Chemistry from IIT Bombay in 1996, and his PhD in Chemistry from Stanford Unviersity in 2003. During his PhD, he worked on diagrammatic formulation of theories of simple liquids and their applications to calculate time-correlation functions. Subsequently, he carried out post-doctoral research stints at the University of Maryland College Park and the IRPHE, CNRS, Marseille, France, before joining the Department of Chemistry IIT Kanpur in 2007. His primary research interest is in theoeretical cand computational chemistry with an emphasis on modeling of crystal growth of semiconductor materials using methods developed in the group involving lattice-based kinetic Monte Carlo and continuum modeling. Additionally, he is also interested in biophysical phenomena of cellular locomotion.
